KALMETALL W100 bimetallic wear plate is a wear-resistant steel manufactured using Kalenborn’s proprietary sintering technology. Produced by Kalenborn (Germany)-one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wear protection solutions-this product delivers outstanding performance in severe wear applications.

Its unique manufacturing process ensures uniform hardness throughout the entire hardfacing layer, resulting in even wear over time and a significantly longer service life than conventional bimetallic wear plates.

S235JRG2 is the standard backing steel used for KALMETALL W100 bimetallic wear plate and is suitable for operating temperatures up to 350°C / 662°F. The standard thickness of the backing plate starts from 5 mm.

The hardfacing layer is the wear-resistant surface of KALMETALL W100 bimetallic wear plate. It consists of a C–Cr–Fe alloy system that forms a chromium carbide microstructure, providing exceptional hardness. Depending on the alloy composition, the hardfacing hardness can reach up to 820 HV. The standard hardfacing thickness ranges from 3 mm to 12 mm, with a maximum thickness of 18 mm.

KALMETALL W100 bimetallic wear plate is widely used in industries such as cement production, steel manufacturing, power generation, mining, and precision fabrication. Thanks to its superior performance and quality, many customers have upgraded from UPX and VAUTID wear plates to KALMETALL.
